Eastern Kentucky University is a public institution located in Richmond, Kentucky. The Colonels compete in NCAA Division I athletics and are members of the Atlantic Sun Conference. The university transitioned conferences in recent years after a long tenure in the Ohio Valley Conference. Eastern Kentucky sponsors a wide range of varsity sports and competes nationally in Division I competition.
